Mulungu is used extensively by indigenous Amazonian peoples as medicines, insecticides and fish poisons. Tinctures made from the leaves and bark of Mulungu are used in Brazilian traditional medicine as a sedative, to calm over-excited nervous systems and lower blood pressure.
